Mushaal Hussein Mullick is the wife of Yasin Malik, a former militant and Kashmiri separatist leader who supports Kashmir's independence from both India and Pakistan.

Yasin was the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, which was the forerunner of armed militancy in Kashmir.

In 1994, Malik abandoned violence to resolve the Kashmir conflict in favor of nonviolent means.

Details On Arundhati Roy Relationship On Kashmir Files

Roy reaffirmed her support for Kashmir's independence from India following the Amarnath land transfer dispute in an interview with The Times of India.

500,000 people rallied in Srinagar, in the Kashmir part of India's Jammu and Kashmir state, for independence on August 18, 2008, following the Amarnath land transfer controversy.

The rallies, she claimed, were proof that Kashmiris wanted independence from India rather than union with it. The Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party also chastised her remarks.

Satya Prakash Malaviya, a member of the All India Congress Committee and a senior Congress party leader, requested Roy to retract her "irresponsible" statement, claiming it was "contrary to historical realities."

Where Is Yasin Malik Now In 2022?

Malik is accused in March 2020 of the murder of four Indian Air Force men during a 1990 raid and is currently on trial.

He's also charged with the kidnapping of Rubaiyya Sayeed. He is currently imprisoned in Tihar.

The Islamic Students League, led by Yasin Malik, joined the Muslim United Front in the run-up to the 1987 Legislative Assembly elections (MUF).

Because it does not believe in the constitution, it did not run for seats. However, it assumed responsibility for MUF campaigning in all Srinagar constituencies.

According to a spokeswoman for the Jamaat-e-Islami, all parties who joined the MUF were pro-independence or pro-self-determination.
