Who Is Supreme Court Justice Naita Semaj & Why Did She Let Camrin Williams Off The Hook?

Naita Semaj is a judge of the Bronx County Civil Court of the City of New York. In 2019, she was elected to the bench.

Semaj graduated from Lehman College with a bachelor's degree in social work in 2000 and spent the next five years working as a caseworker for various foster care agencies in New York City.

She graduated from St John's University School of Law with a JD. In 2005, Semaj graduated from law school and began working for the New York City Administration for Children's Services as a family court legal services attorney.

She is well-known for litigating issues of child abuse and neglect. Semaj has served on the Bronx County Black Bar Association board and as its president.

She also works for the Bronc County Civil Court as an arbitrator. In January 2022, she was appointed to the Supreme Court. 

Williams is a known gang member who raps as C Blu, was on probation at the time for a 2020 gun possession charge. The NYPD is furious that the 16-year-old is no longer facing gun and assault charges.

According to officials, Williams was arrested when he was 14 years old for possessing a Tauris pistol.

Semaj had judged that the bodycam footage showed Williams to be rather calm and cooperative during the encounter.

The lawsuit was dismissed after Bronx Supreme Court Justice Naita Semaj ruled that the police officer had 'no obvious justification' to search him and disregarded the arresting officers' claims.

Her spouse is a jail officer, and they live in the Northeast Bronx. His full name and identity have not been revealed to the public.

Semaj has a four-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old step-son with his husband.

Naita Semaj was born in New York but spent her primary and high school years in Jamaica.

She faced several hurdles and difficulties during this time in her life, but she overcame them and used her experiences to build a career in which she focused on assisting others.
