What Happened To Jacob On The Way Home?
Jacob has suddenly disappeared in the year 1999 in Hallmark's The Way Home. Jacob is the little boy from the 1999 timeline of the show.
The Hallmark Channel became the most watched entertainment cable network of the week and weekend in the whole day and primetime among key demos thanks to Sunday's premiere of The Way Home.
With 2.4 million unduplicated viewers, the program was rated as the second-most-watched entertainment cable program on Sunday and the third-most-watched of the week. It is the network's first brand-new original series in nearly seven years.
The show centers on three generations of Landry women who set out on a quest to reconnect with one another while discovering significant truths about their family members' pasts.
The multigenerational drama cast features the lead roles of Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, Evan Williams, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow.
What Happened To Jacob On The Way Home?
Jacob disappeared on The Way Home after Alice lands in his timeline. Jacob was Kat's nine-year-old brother.
Since he vanished in 1999, his father, Colton, passed away the following year. There used to be a lot of music and fun in the house, but now nothing seems to be working out in the family.
Del has removed pictures of both her son and husband since she wants to move on with her life right now.
Kat and her mother are so far apart now because of what happened to Jacob that the latter won't even admit to Kat how terrified she was about Alice going missing.
The key factor that appears to connect the two timelines firmly is Kat's recollection of being friends with Alice, a new girl in town, during the summer when Jacob vanished.
This is why she named her daughter Alice. Kat has no idea that she named her child after her child.
Del and Kat can't connect the dots since their memories of Alice's appearance are somewhat clouded by the fact that she was only around that summer and is indistinct in the one picture of them from that time period.
Still, as Kat and Del reconcile in the present day, the bitterness does not seem to fade away between them. The mother seems to be blaming her daughter for her son's disappearance.
Time travel-related television programs typically have their own set of rules that govern things like what transpires in both timelines.
We might see time travel being the central plot of this new Hallmark series, but family reconciliation is its focus instead of anything else.
Hence, it might not be wrong to say the series' has family values deeply rooted in the disguise of the sci-fi storyline.
What Has Happened On The Show So Far?
In the show, we can relate to both incarnations of Kat and Elliott because we can see the adults they will become via their young versions of them.
We sincerely hope that the adults they become will return to the original values that led them along their own courses in life.
Here is the recap of two episodes of the new Hallmark series.
Alice feels uncomfortable at her new school as rumors swirl. Alice stumbles onto a pond on her family's land as she flees her irritations.
The teenager immediately regrets throwing a prized jewelry into the pond and dives in after it. When she emerges, she is in the past conversing with her mother.
She discovers more about her family's history and the events that led to her mother's estrangement from her grandmother when she spends time with a teenage Kat.
The episode's focus shifts to the Landry family's experiences in 1999 and 2000 and how Del and Kat are handling them now because that portion of the plot appears to have been quite well thought out.
In the second episode, Del wants to close that chapter and move on from the past, but Kat considers accepting an offer to write a book about her brother Jacob's disappearance more than two decades earlier.
While yearning to go back in time, Alice begins to understand how the pond functions with the help of Elliot.
As Alice travels between 1999 and the present and discovers the truth about what happened to her uncle and grandfather, it will undoubtedly be her responsibility to put things right.
The key to the show will be how she handles her feelings about seeing her family as they were versus how they are now.
Laflamme-Snow does a fantastic job of expressing the layers of confusion that she must get over to use time travel to her benefit.
