Selling the OC Star Tyler Stanaland Lives With An Autoimmune Disease

When Tyler Stanaland was surfing in Mexico in 2012, he became terribly ill. He discovered he had an autoimmune disease.

His stomach began to hurt, and he later discovered he had ulcers. He spent just under 100 days in the hospital and underwent seven surgeries since he was already in bad shape when a doctor performed a test on him that injured his intestines.

Tyler explained to Whalebone Mag how this illness completely altered his life "You begin to view the world through new lenses and with a completely new appreciation. Because of this, when I felt better, I was ready to go going and start living."

Apart from his illness, Tyler Stanaland, a skimboarder and surfer from Laguna Beach, is all too familiar with the relaxed California way of life. 

His life was centered around the ocean because he was raised by a mother and father who were both avid surfers and lived in an area with steady surf.

Indeed, Tyler Stanaland wasn't prepared to give up on his surfing endeavor even after seven missions and nearly 100 days spent in a hospital.

After making a full recovery, Tyler is now face surfing in the water and living life to the fullest. Tyler received a new sense of direction in life as well as an opening in the equestrian industry.

"I frequently remark that this is the best/worst thing that has ever happened to me. He offered the viewpoint that such experience could be crucial. It helped me to understand that life is a gift. The tour, he said, "worked in every aspect of my life, and I owe everything to it.
