Since "Black" Panther was released in theatres, everyone has been talking about the presentation of an indigenous group in the movie, especially through the character named Namor. Tenoch Huerta plays the antagonist of the movie.

Recently, there have been discussions going on about his eye color. Fans who have seen his photos would notice that he seems to have two different eye colors, which could result from lightning when taking pictures.

If one looks closely, his eye color is brown, but the different sizes of his eyes are noticeable. Also, in some pictures, his eyes seem to be in light blue color, which confused many, and they wonder if he has two different eye colors.

But, in the movie, there is no noticeable difference in his eye colors; even in the posters, they are brown in color. It could be the result of the editing. Nevertheless, the production team has ensured that his look represents the community.

His Look Inspired By Indigenous Roots

While talking to Digital Spy, Tenoch, who is of indigenous descent but does not identify as one, shared about their effort to represent the indigenous roots in the movie. He explained that, in Latin America, they reject their indigenous origins, especially in Mexico.

And it is not about their genes because everyone in Mexico has indigenous or African roots. Rather, it is about culture. Showcasing his support, he said that his community is culturally separated from indigenous roots, so it is important to embrace and honor those origins.

Huerta expressed his hope that their effort in the movie to represent these groups will help them embrace who they are, with everyone looking in the mirror and saying, "what's in the mirror is okay."

Their ancestors, grandparents, taught them to be ashamed of who they are, but it is time to cut it off and say: 'Yeah, this is who I am, and I never had anything wrong with me," he continued. He added that the mistake was in the eyes of those who were looking and judging them, but it is now time to "change the glasses and reconsolidate" who they are with their ancestors, with all grandparents, and embrace them.

The film shows two rival nations, one on land (Wakanda) and one beneath the water (Talokan), both governed by superheroes. Namor is from Talokan, an undersea nation built on and around a second vibranium source.

Talokan arose hundreds of years ago when European conquerors arrived on the Yucatán peninsula, bringing sickness that spread like wildfire among the Indigenous peoples. In the recent movie, he and Shuri will agree to a peaceful alliance because of similarities in their paths.
