The actress grew up in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. Initially, she wanted to pursue ballet and later become a painter. But when she took her first acting class at 18, she finally found her place.

She used her work savings to buy a car so she could drive to Los Angeles for auditions. When she ran out of money, she would return and work until she saved enough earnings for auditioning again.

This routine continued for four years until Russell landed her first major TV role.

Ortega was born to a mother of Mexican and Puerto Rican ancestry and a father of Mexican descent. She is of mixed ethnicity.

Taylor was born to a mixed family. She grew up mostly with her mom's side of the family. She shared growing up, she felt unaccepted by her friends due to her skin color.

Her family struggled financially and constantly moved, uprooting their lives sixteen times to follow her dad's career.
