Taryn Brumfitt husband Mathew Brumfitt is a film producer. Mathew was an executive producer for the documentary called Embrace.

The documentary inspired people to change the way they feel about their bodies.

In this, Taryn explores the global issues of body loathing after she went viral with unconventional before and after pictures on Facebook in 2013. 

Besides being a producer, Mathew is also the founder and CEO of Argo Global. After completing his education at the Royal Brisbane Institute of Technology and RMIT University, he has been professionally active. 

He worked in Vanguard Logistics Services and Integral Logistics from 2005 to 2015. Besides that, he is a board member of Cycling South Australia.

He became the national Advisory Council Member in 2021 and Chair of the State Advisory Council for AusCycling. 

He is also a father to three children that he shares with Taryn. They have two sons, Oliver and Cruz, and a daughter, Mikaela.

There was a time when his marriage to the activist was failing. She had built a business on positivity and was constantly recognized in the street, and it made her professional and personal life difficult, writes Body and Soul. 

They have been married for 19 years and have three kids. While many boast about how long they have been married, she feels that many are unhappy.

Thus, she felt that she deserved happiness too, and broke her family in 2020. 

But, it was not easy for her to overcome separation from Mathew. But a new man, Tim Pearson, who she met on a dating app when randomly swapping to remember what dating felt like, healed her heart.

They bought a house together, combined their children, and now care for four kids and a dog. 

Taryn has been recently named Australian Of The Year in 2023. According to Guardian, prime minister Anthony Albanese announced Wednesday night during a ceremony at the National Arboretum in Canberra.

The activist has led the Body Image Movement in Adelaide, a group that promotes body positivity and acceptance. The chair of the National Australia Day Council, Danielle Roche, said that the activist had inspired millions of women around the world to be comfortable in their own skin. 

In her speech, she said that Australia is facing a pediatric health emergency because people are bullied and shamed into thinking that their bodies are the problem. She also added that there is so much despair when it comes to thinking about our bodies. 

She noted that her meaning to those words was not to encourage obesity but to move, nourish, respect, and enjoy our bodies. She said that one could not look after things that one does not love. 

Brumfitt founded Body Images Movement in 2012. However, her cause was known to the world when she posted a before and after image of herself.

It was not her going slimmer from fatter. Instead, the before was the picture before she had children, and the other one was after she gave birth.

The picture went viral and reached 3 million people. This encouraged her to do something more for the cause. 

She went on a journey in different countries and talked to many people suffering from body hate or who had to go through a similar experience.

In 2016, she released a documentary that inspired people to love their bodies and be comfortable in their skin.

Her mission to help others embrace themselves has been helping her career as well. In 2018, she was named to the Australian Financial Review 100 Women of Influence awards.

She was also a finalist in the 2019 Australian of the Year competition.

She was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year, South Australia, and awarded the SA Award for Excellence in Women's Leadership from Women and Leadership Australia in the same year.
