Take This Waltz ending explains the likelihood of emptiness despite being around your loved ones. Margot feels the same even after finding the perfect guy.

Margot, the lead character, is full of emotion yet emotionless the whole time. Her emotions started with a void and ended alike. She knew what she wanted and loved the idea of wanting someone.

Furthermore, Margot wanted to be loved but couldn't maintain it because of her attraction to the idea of loving someone rather than living it with endearment.

The film was directed by an Oscar-nominated Canadian filmmaker Sarah Polley famous for showcasing emotions through her films which is never discussed enough.

Over the years, Sarah Polley, 44, has directed  Road to Avonlea, Away from Her, and Stories We Tell.

Similarly, she has acted in several feature films, including The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Exotica, and The Sweet Hereafter.

Talking about the idea of making films, the former actress Sarah once said that she wanted to make a film about emptiness.

Hence, she made Take This Waltz following her idea of void and gave us a film showing the possibility of emptiness despite having everything you ever desired.

Take This Waltz Ending Explained

Take This Waltz ending reveals that Margot wants some dreamy out-of-reach sensation rather than having the one you love. Hence, she is alone once again.

The film's ending scene is shot around the amusement park, where Margot is alone, dreaming of the golden days she shared with Daniel.

She wants to be consumed by the thought of playfulness but not live it, so she is alone all over again, even after meeting Daniel, the man of her dreams.

When Margot met Daniel, she was unhappy with her regular life, which followed the same routine repeatedly. Given his dedication to his cookbook, she wanted a spark in her life that her husband could not provide.

Hence, she leaves Lou for Daniel and settles down with him. However, her happiness doesn't last long as she slowly develops the same feeling she shared with Lou in her first marriage.

Margot couldn't be happy even after spending her life with Daniel, who showed her a different side of love that was missing from her life.

Like in her previous marriage, Margot felt left out and alone despite being with the man she longed to be together with.

It doesn't matter who she gets married to or shares a life with; in the end, Margot is left alone, Dreaming of a spark.

As mentioned earlier, director Sarah Polley wanted to present a movie with a theme of emptiness, the void that doesn't go away in any condition.

She wanted everyone to understand that feelings are real and people should learn to deal with them rather than run away from them. Likewise, the central character Margot doesn't know how to live with the feeling.

She wants to feel alive with the sensation during the first stages of being in love, which is impossible, and the holiness inside her heart is never filled.
