After Supreme Court decision, Justice Sonia Sotomayor “swore unprofessionally and inappropriately multiple times” at Justice Clarence Thomas, as well as reportedly saying “Only the lord knows what would happen if Anita Hill ended up pregnant.” Then she stormed off. pic.twitter.com/9QxJ2bhhMf
When Sonia was seven years old, she received a type 1 diabetes diagnosis and started receiving daily insulin injections. After her father passed away from heart issues at the age of 42, she mastered the English language.
Sotomayor claims that the strong-willed Nancy Drew book character served as her primary inspiration in pursuing a line of work as a detective.
After her diabetes diagnosis caused her doctors to advise her to pursue a different line of work than detective, she revealed that watching the Perry Mason television series gave her the idea to pursue a legal career and become a judge.

Insight On Sonia Sotomayor Family
Soniya Sotomayor was born to a Puerto Rican family in The Bronx, New York City, on June 25, 1954.
Her mother Celina Báez was an orphan from the Santa Rosa neighborhood in Lajas, and her father Juan Sotomayor was an alcoholic from the Santurce neighborhood of San Juan.
When they departed Puerto Rico separately, the two were strangers. But after Celina served in the Women's Army Corps, they dated and got hitched in the midst of World War II.
While Celina Baez worked as a telephone operator before becoming a practical nurse, Juan Sotomayor had only completed third grade, did not understand English, and was employed as a tool and die worker.
Juan Sotomayor, the younger brother of Sonia, went on to practice medicine and teach at a university near Syracuse, New York.
