10. The Middle

The Middle follows a family who lives in the middle of the country and belongs to a middle-class family. Frankie Heck is a wife and a mother who is a superhero but not an actual one- unless getting her kids out the door for school every morning as a super feat is counted as one. 

She uses her wit and sense of humor to keep her family through each day intact. It features the daily life struggles of the working mother of three kids, Axl, Sue, and Brick. 

The show features Patricia Heaton as Frankie and Neil Flynn as her husband, Mike. Frankie is an underperforming salesperson at a used-car dealership and later becomes a dental assistant. In contrast, Mike is a local quarry manager whose wife complains to him about a lack of affection at times.

The three children of the couple are completely different from each other. Axl is the oldest child who is lazy but popular. He does well in sports. Sue is full of energy but is socially awkward, and anything she does ends up being unsuccessful. 

The youngest son, Brick, is intelligent but introverted. He has odd behavioral traits, which are hinted to derive from autism. Thus, Frankie narrates the series about her middle-class family and their struggles. 

It was originally released in 2010 and continued with nine seasons until 2017. The sitcom was praised by television critics and earned many award nominations. 

9. Frasier

Frasier is another American sitcom to watch if you need some gigs. The show aired in 1993 on NBC and became one of the most critically acclaimed comedy series of all time. It ended with 11 seasons in 2004 but left a great impact on the hearts of the fans who still watch the show; some even call it a masterpiece. 

It is a spin-off of the sitcom Cheers. The show follows Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist who returns to his hometown of Seattle to start a radio show. He rekindles his relationship with his father, Martin, a retired cop, and his younger brother, Niles, a fellow doctor. 

Kelsey Grammar starred as Frasier Crane; John Mahoney plays Frasier's father, Martin Crane; David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane; Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon; and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle. In addition, Dan Butler, Tom McGowan, Brian Klugman, Marsha Mason, Patrick Kerr, and Edward Hibbert have recurring roles in the series.

The series was a huge success as it won 37 Primetime Emmy Awards during its 11 seasons. Kelsey Grammer, who plays Frasier Crane on Cheers, was the first recurring character in seasons 3 and 4 but became a regular in season 5. 

He started as a love interest of Diane Chambers' in the third season, but in the fourth one, Diane rejects him in Europe and later marries Lilith Sternin and gives birth to a son named Frederick. 

He had divorced Lilith by the time the new series Frasier started. So it was a new journey for Crane in Frasier. 

8. Chesapeake Shores

A novel-based drama television series to follow on Hallmark is Chesapeake Shores. The Hallmark Channel original series released its first episode on August 14, 2016. It ended with the sixth season on August 14, 2022. 

Abby O'Brien Winters is a mother of two children preoccupied with her life taking care of them and dealing with her divorce. After getting a phone call from her younger sister Jess, who is remodeling the Inn at Eagle Point, she comes from New York to her homeland of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland.

She was too busy to take care of the community her father established. But, as she returns to save her sister's inn from getting shut down, she has to face her estranged family and first love, Trace Riley, whom she left sixteen years ago without a proper goodbye. 

Initially, he becomes an obstacle, but as time goes by, he becomes an ally and a second chance for her at love. And the problem with her estranged family becomes bigger when her mother returns to town.

Thus, it follows the life of the O'Briens family as they deal with life's triumphs, sufferings, relationships, and fractured family dynamics. And the family must come together to get through the tricky times and solve the problems of their pasts. 

Jesse Metcalfe, Laci J. Mailey, Meghan Ory, Brendan Penny, Diane Ladd, Barbara Niven, Andrew Francis, Emilie Ullerup, and Treat Williams are the main cast of the series. Likewise, Serge Houde, Britt Irvin, Tom Butler, Jessica Sipos, Bradley Stryker, Victor Webster, Gillian Barber, Greyston Holt, and Stephen Huszar are some of the artists who have recurring roles in the show. 

The story is full of romance, drama, laughs, tears, and surprises set in the beautifully gorgeous, scenic town of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland. The series is family-friendly and safe for kids to watch and learn about forgiveness and reconciliation. 

7. The Good Witch

The Good Witch follows the people of Middleton, especially Cassie and her daughter Grace, as they welcome Dr. Sam Radford and his son into their lives. Cassie and Grace have a magical intuition and charmed discernment, but it is hidden from everyone in the community. 

Cassie is a newly widowed woman living in Middleton with her teenage daughter, Grace. But, as their new neighbors, Reidfords, come to live in the locality, they become suspicious of the mother-daughter duo. 

Catherine Bell plays Cassie, and Bailee Madison plays Grace in the show. Likewise, James Denton, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Peter MacNeill, Anthony Lemke, Marc Bandavid, Katherine Barrell, Ashley Leggat, Kyle Evans are some other main characters in the show.

The fantasy comedy-drama television series debuted on February 28, 2015, and continued for seven seasons, ending on July 25, 2021. The series finale also featured the first kiss between characters of the same sexuality on the show, making history in the Hallmark network.

The show also won ASCAP Award for Top Television Series at the 2018 ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards. It could be one of the shows to go on with if you are looking for magic, comedy, and drama.

6. When Calls The Heart

When Calls the Heart is a television show based on Janette Oke's best-selling book series of the same name. It chronicles the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young school teacher and single mother in the beautiful town of Hope Valley.

She comes to Hope Valley as a teacher but is followed by Constable Jack Thornton, who is sent by her father to protect her. However, the constable dislikes her because he thinks Thatcher's wealthy father has doomed his career and assigned him to the town to protect his daughter. 

On the other hand, the townspeople lost many of their family members in an explosion caused by the mining-company site manager's irresponsible management. Yet, despite the risks of working in the mine, the townspeople work there to keep the roof over their heads and food on the table and help pay the wage to the town's teacher.  

Thus, Elizabeth, whose husband was killed on duty, must find the courage and spirit to continue with her life while adjusting to the ever-changing times.

The main characters in the show is played by Erin Karkow, Chris McNally, Lori Laughlin, Daniel Lissing, Martin Cummins, Jack Wagner, Paul Greene, Andrea Brooks and Pascale Hutton whereas the recurring characters are portrayed by Charlotte Hegele, Erica Caroll, Chelah Horsdel. Last Man Standing is the story of Mike Baxter, a senior executive and marketing director for an outdoor sports goods shop chain in Denver, Colorado. He is a married father to three daughters and a grandfather to the eldest daughter's son. Later in life, he is joined by the young men who are married to or dating his daughters.

The series portrays everything that that families are dealing with today. It ran from October 11, 2011, to May 20, 2021, and was the highest-rated scripted comedy on Fox for the 2019–2020 season.

It features actors Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Alexandra Krosney, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, Flynn Morrison, Krista Marie Yu as main characters whereas Robert Foster, Erika Alxander, Carla Jimenez, Sarah Gilman, Tye Sheridan, Joeley Fisher, Jay Leno and Travis Tope have recurring roles in the show.

Additionally, research done during the 2016 U.S. presidential election showed that it was the ninth most popular show on television among Republicans. Filled with lots of humor, this show was the second-highest-rated sitcom for the 2016–17 season. 

The audience loved it to the extent that fans signed a petition for renewal when the network declined to renew it for the seventh season. Then, Fox announced that it had picked the show for the seventh season. They even renewed it for the ninth and final season, which will be released in 2021. 

The fans reviewed the show saying it is pure fun and joy. They also commented on how they liked the family values implemented throughout the series and the whole family dynamics. 

3. Little House on the Prairie

Little House on the Prairie features the life of the Ingalls family. They live in the 1870s- 90s on a farm on Plum Creek near Walnut Grove, Minnesota, while going on with their daily life. The sitcom is based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling Little House series.

Charles Ingalls, a farmer and mill worker, his wife Caroline, and his two boys and two daughters, Mary, Laura, Carrie, and Grace, are the main characters, and in later seasons, they adopt three children, Albert, Cassandra, and James.

Michaela Landon, Karen Grassle, Melissa Gilbert, Richard Bull, Katherine MacGregor, Alison Arngri. Jonathan Gilbert, Victor French, Kevin Hagen, Ketty lester, Bonnie Bartlett, Dabbs Greer and Brian Part are the main characters in the series. 2. Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, is an American Western drama that follows the adventures of Michaela Quinn, a doctor who lives in Colorado Springs after the Civil War. 

Michaela, also called Dr. Mike, moves there when her father, a Boston physician, passes away, but she must earn the trust of her new community, which is not happy to have a female doctor. To make the situation worse, she is also an outspoken humanitarian who supports Colorado Springs' minorities and sympathizes with barmaids.

Her difficulties increase when she starts to care for three orphaned children and falls in love with the elusive Byron Sully, a rugged but handsome mountain man. Thus, she is on a one-woman mission to convince the community that a female doctor can successfully practice medicine.

The series aired in 1993 and ended in 2001 where Jane Seymour plays the role of Michaela and Joe Lando is seen as Byron Sully. The series portrays the reality of that time when not many females practiced medicine. Thus, it has addressed the issues of "gender" and "race" within the community. 

The show also touches on some parts of history while depicting the reality of how professional women, especially in the medical field, were treated at that time. Moreover, the main character is strong and determined, stands up for people, and does not change her beliefs to meet society's expectations, which is also inspiring for many in today's times.

The Waltons tells a story of a family who lives in rural Virginia during the Great Depression and World War II. The characters in the show are John Walton Jr., his six siblings, their parents, John and Olivia Walton, and paternal grandparents, Zebulon and Esther Walton. 

John is the oldest of seven children who go on to become a journalist and author. The family is friendly to even strangers and helps people in need as much as they can afford. 

Viewers can see how families struggled to survive during the war while dealing with the losses of their loved ones. It also portrayed how the cast tackled serious issues like racism, ageism, assault, disability, and religion.

The series began in September 1972 and aired on CBS for nine seasons in total. It received Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 1973. 

It also has a cultural significance as well. In 1992, then-president George Bush said in a speech that they were going to strengthen American families to make them more like The Waltons than The Simpsons.
