The singer's new documentary is Not Just A Girl, and fans are thrilled to know more about Shania Twain's ethnicity, family, health issues, and progress through the show.

After a long battle with her voice problem, the Canadian artist got back into her career, and fans are all for the new documentary, and it is doing great.

Shania Twain Ethnicity & Family - Where Is She From?

Shania Twain was born Eileen Regina Edwards to an Irish mother and Indian father, making her from a mixed ethnicity. However, news of the biological father's side of the family surfaced, which claims that she has Native American ethnicity as well.

Her mother, Sharon Morrison, was married to her biological father, Clarence Edwards, but the two separated when Twain was only two years old.

After their separation, her mother moved to Ontario and remarried Jerry Twain, who adopted Shania and her sister, legally making her 50 percent North American Indian as Jerry was an Indian man.

When the Canadian singer reached high peaks in her career, rumors about her biological father surfaced, making her the center of attention.

Her biological grandmother spoke out, saying, "It surprised me. I guess somebody in town got angry seeing Eileen on television pretending we don't exist."

However, Shania Twain cleared up the misunderstanding by clarifying that she was adopted legally and stated,

"Being raised by a full-blooded Indian and being a part of his family and their culture from such a young age is all I've ever known. That heritage is in my heart and soul, and I'm proud of it."

Shania Twain's Voice Problem After Catching Lyme Disease

Shania Twain was doing great with her career during the early 2000s until she had a problem with her voice after catching Lyme disease.

In 2003, when Shania went for a horseback ride into the woods, she found a tick on herself and got checked. The diagnosis came back that she contracted Lyme disease from the tick bite.

Fortunately, her symptoms were mild, and she recovered from the deadly disease. However, a few days later, she lost her voice suddenly.

Upon further diagnosis and tests, the doctors figured out that Lyme disease caused her a neurological problem on her vocal cords, for which she went through an open throat operation.

She opened up about her condition and her struggle in her documentary and an interview a few years back.

Health Update On The Singer

After suffering from the effects of dysphonia, causing Shania Twain to lose her voice, she underwent surgery and a lot of therapy for her treatment.

For a singer with one of the best voices in music history, her voice was her everything, and Twain did all that she could for her recovery.

She recovered from her open throat surgery and made her comeback in 2012 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and in 2017 she released her album Now.

Recently she had been selling out shows in Las Vegas in June when she had sad news for her fans about having to cancel her concert.
