Westerly RI Democratic Chairman Robert Ritacco Charged With Multiple Count Of Assault

Robert Ritacco is a treasurer of the R.I. Democratic City & Town Committee, who has been very active in his community for decades. However, his name came into the public for all the wrong reasons.

He has been accused of sexual assault and the grand jury has indicted him on two sexual assault charges. He served on Westerly Town Council for two years from 1996 to 1998. He has also been in the other leadership positions.

It has been reported by the Providence Journal that Robert's family has been running Ritacco's Market, which served  Italian specialties on Oak Street. He was very engaged in his locality.

Robert has been charged with two charges of first-degree sexual assault, as per Providence Journal. It has been reported that the alleged assault occurred on May 29, 2021, as per the Attorney General's record.

The Rhode Island police department is still investigating the case. It has been reported, as per WPRI, that he was allegedly involved in two sexual acts even though he "did know or had reason to know that she was physically helpless at the time.”

As the indictment news came out, Robert have taken the leave from his position. Many people are saying that he should resign from his position although the accusations have not been proven.

It is likely that Ritacco is married and has a wife and children. However, there has not been any revelation about it, so people will have to wait for his personal information to be released.

The only information available is that his family has been running Ritacco's Market for more than 50 years now. Besides that, there is not much information available about them. 

There is great attention to this case because of its severity and its political nature of it. It has been reported that he is scheduled to be arraigned on May 23, 2022, in Washington County Superior Court.
