Regis Philbin

Regis Francis Xavier Philbin is an American born TV personality, actor, singer, and an author. He was born on August 25, 1931, in Bronx, New York, United States. Raised as a Roman Catholic, his father Francis "Frank" Philbin was a U.S. Marine, and mother, Filomena "Florence". Ethnically, Philbin is of Irish descent. Although the family kept a secret, Philbin also had a brother named Frank M. Philbin (1st Mar., 1951- 27th Dec., 2007), who was two decades younger to him.


His early educations, followed by his high schooling were both done in Bronx, at 'Our Lady of Solace Grammar School', and 'Cardinal Hayes High School.' Philbin completed his degree with sociology from the University of Notre Dame in 1953. After which, he got recruited at the United States Navy. Eventually, Philbin started behind-the-scenes in radio and TV, and also appeared at news broadcasting. Continuing his effort towards TV programs, he got his first show 'The Regis Philbin Show' in California, which was suffering the budgetary problems. Later, his career came to a strong point with his appearance on 'The Joey Bishop Show', which caught some great spotlight. Regis Philbin gradually became a talk show personality with his appearance in various TV events. Following the shows he also worked with many co-hosts. He was spotted often on his shows followed by the changing time, perspectives of the viewers.


He was seen on 'A.M. Los Angeles', 'Regis Philbin's Saturday Night in St. Louis', 'The Morning Show', 'Live! With Regis and Katie Lee', 'Lifestyles with Regis Philbin', 'Live! Just Me.', and also has appeared on a number of movies as' Sextette', 'The Man Who Loved Women', ' Malibu Express', 'Funny About Love', 'Night and the City', 'The Emperor's New Clothes', ' Little Nicky', 'The Great Buck Howard', 'Jack and Jill', etc. Philbin also has been a successful author publishing some noticeable books. As a host of numerous TV Talk shows, game shows and many more deeds, Philbin's net worth is set to be $150 million.


The 82-year old age TV personality is staying a happily married life with wife Joy Senese since 1970. Before Joy, Philbin was attached and married to Catherine Faylan dated 1955-1968. He has four children, two from each wife, named as Amy, Joanna, Jennifer Joy, and Daniel. He owns a home in Greenwich, Connecticut, and also an apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.


Health wise, Regis seems to have various complexions. He went into surgery for many different problems. Philbin had angioplasty on his right artery, heart bypass surgery, hip replacement surgery, and a surgery for removal of blood clot from his calf. Philbin doesn't seem much used to with the technologies of present day. He didn't carry a mobile phone until 2008, his mails and other computer accounts are managed by his wife, Joy.


Regis Philbin has been seen as a great success in the eyes of many. His presence has been well mentioned in the star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also was successful in bagging some outstanding awards. His awards includes TV Guide Award-2001, Daytime Emmy Award (Game show host & Talk Show Host)-2001, Daytime Emmy (Special Class Special)-2006, Lifetime Achievement Award-2008, Daytime Emmy (Talk Show Host)-2011, Daytime Emmy for outstanding talk show in 2012. He was mentioned at the Guinness Book of World Records for having the maximum time being spent on-air, on-camera time. He has appeared in as PSA for the 'Wheelchair Foundation'.


From his early young age till his old years, Philbin has attracted a lot of viewer for himself a continuous struggler. Philbin's trademark mainly includes the irreverent ad-libs. Philbin being one of the great fans of Mickey Rooney celebrated his 90th birthday together at a party.
