R. Jai Gillum, Andrew Gillum Wife Details To Follow The Fraud Charges

R.Jai Gillum is the blessed wife of Andrew Gillum and the couple has been together since college. Andrew first saw her in college after participating in student government at Florida A&M. They began sharing their chemistry since then.

Although she has spent the past 20 years in Tallahassee, she is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. Moreover, she graduated in biology and has worked in banking in Dallas, Texas.

According to thesun.co.uk, originally planning to study dentistry, she changed her mind and chose to enroll in graduate school to pursue a career in public health or public policy.

She has been a supporting wife to Andrew and has worked on her Husband's campaign hosting a Women for Andrew Gillum event.

R. Jai Gillum is the executive director of The BEST Project for United Way of the Big Bend, according to Tallahassee Magazine which is dedicated to helping people obtain long-term financial stability and a high standard of living by providing services like tax preparation assistance.

Andrew and R. Jai together has three children. In 2014, the couple welcomed twins Caroline and Jackson. Thereafter, they announced the birth of son Davis Allen Gillum in May 2017. 

In a television interview in September 2020, Andrew Gillum revealed that he is bisexual. His wife is not hidden from the truth as R. Jai confessed that her husband told the truth before they got married 11 years ago.

Instead, she advocated for bisexuality and conveyed her concern for those who are unfamiliar with it.

On June 22, 2022, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Florida indicted Gillum on 21 criminal counts for allegedly transferring funds from the campaign to a business run by Sharon Lettman-Hicks, one of his senior campaign advisers, who then used the funds to pay Gillum. In response, Gillum issued a statement announcing his innocence and characterizing the accusation as inherently "political."

When Gillum took gifts on out-of-town trips with lobbyists and vendors and neglected to disclose them, the Florida Commission on Ethics established probable cause that he had broken state ethics statutes in late January 2019 and charged him a $5,000 settlement.

Gillum was accused of misconduct during his 2014 mayoral campaign after appointing private equity businessman Adam Corey as the treasurer.

After the Tallahassee Democrat revealed that Gillum's government office had sent emails using web-based software obtained from NGP VAN, a firm that supplies technology to Democratic and progressive campaigns, in February 2017, Gillum issued an apology.
