Nancy Brophy is an award-winning novelist whose first published work was a pamphlet called Between Your Navel and Your Knees for the University of Houston. She's spent most of her career writing nonfiction, with pieces in trade magazines and technical writing for HR departments.

In 2011, she published an essay titled How to Murder Your Husband, which details the various causes and methods for killing your spouse without being discovered. The article was posted on the See Jane Publish blog.

The incidents in her writing match the events that occurred while her husband was killed. Currently, it is not accessible to the general public.

Her Verdict On Husband Daniel Brophy's Murder

During the initial investigation, Ms Brophy told investigators that she had walked the dogs and had a shower the morning of the event. Investigators discovered traffic camera footage of her driving to and then leaving the cooking school within the 13 minutes when the homicide occurred in 2020.

Crampton-Brophy then later explained her claim, saying she had no knowledge of such a journey and that she was most likely on a coffee run that she forgot about because of the stress of the day's events. In April 2022, she was charged with her husband's murder and put on trial.

Motivation Of The Murder

The prosecution built a case with the available evidence and claimed that she was the murderer after they studied all the evidence in detail. They claimed that her inaccurate version of her whereabouts on the morning of the murder suggested that she was lying.

According to the prosecutors, Crampton Brophy was in financial difficulties and killed her husband for $1.2 million in life insurance policies and sole possession of the $300,000 house.

Forensic reports suggested that Daniel Brophy was shot twice with two shots from a Glock pistol. Ms Brophy had purchased a ghost gun kit of parts via the Internet. She admitted that she had purchased a Glock handgun slide and barrel on eBay with her husband's support.

The case became stronger against her as she had cited the whole incident in her essay in 2011.
