The American sprinter Michael Norman was born in California to his parents of mixed ethnicity. 

Michael Arthur Norman Jr. is known for holding the world's best time record in the 400 meters indoor at just 44.52 seconds. His 43.45 seconds at the 2019 Mt. SAC Relays is ranked fourth best on the all-time list. 

Norman started his career as a sprinter when he was a teenager. He broke the NFHS record at the CIF California State Meet in 2015.  The athlete made his professional debut with IAAF Diamond League 2018 in Paris. He has won numerous accolades in his career. Norman is the two-time winner of the Gatorade Player of the Year Awards for track and field. 

He beat the defending champion, Justin Gatlin, in the 2016 Olympic Trials semi-finals but could not qualify for the Olympic team. 

Michael won two gold medals at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. He also won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 4x400 meters relay. 


Who Are Michael Norman Father and Mother?

The athlete's father, Michael Norman Sr., and his mother, Nobue Sait Norman, are from different ethnic backgrounds. 

Michael Sr. is an African American personality. However, his mother Nobue was a Japanese sprinter from whom Michael inherited his athletic abilities. She competed in the 100 meters Japanese center college.

Michael was born in San Diego, California. He started running when he was in sixth grade. In May 2019, he graduated from the University of Southern California.

Norman scored 400 meters in 44.52 seconds during his college years at NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. He became the USC Trojan to win The Bowerman award in 2018. 

The sprinter is a four times NCAA winner and record holder. He is currently competing for Nike under the assistance of the gold medalists and his college coaches, Quincy Watts and Caryl Smith Gilbert.

Michael finished first at the 2022 U.S. Championship held in Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 

Meet Michael Norman Siblings

Michael was born into a family of athletes who were all aspiring athletes. He grew up with his sibling in San Diego. 

Norman has an older sister named Michelle, who was also a sprinter. She was the winner of the long jump at the 2014 CIF Southern Section Division I Finals.

Michelle attended the University of Utah as a freshman and competed in the indoor season. She was recognized as the season's best athlete in the triple jump with a record of 38-07.75 at the UW Husky Classic. 

She also ran 60 meters at 7.81 seconds and 200 meters at 26.05 seconds. During her sophomore year, she became promoted to the NCAA West Preliminary Championship in the 4x100 relay. 

The sprinter finished 4th position in the 100 meters race at the conference championships. She holds a wind-legal record of 11.83 at the Trtion Invitational on UCI all-time ranks. 

Although a famous athlete, Michelle has not been caught in the limelight.  

Michael Norman: A Peek Into His World Athletics Championship Performance

The 24 years old sprinter Michael has dominated the World Athletics Championships by advancing to the finals.

Norman and Champion Allison will represent Team USA at the men's 400 meters championships finals.

They will compete against Great Britain's Matthew Hudson-Smith, Jamaica's Christoper Taylor, Grenada's Kirani James, and Botswana's Bayapo Ndori.  Michael made the world-leading record by crossing the line in 44.30 seconds in the semifinal heat.
