Jane was an OSS acquaintance and artist who was convicted of being a Soviet spy. She reportedly grew up in San Francisco, and Claire currently resides in San Francisco. Therefore, let's say Claire is somewhat based on Jane.

Before that, the personal lives of the child and her spouse are likewise realistic. Paul was an outspoken supporter of Child's culinary program, even holding cue cards to assist with shooting, precisely as the new series shows.
