Where Is Gary From?

Gary Drayton is originally from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England and was born on May 30, 1961. He currently resides in Pompano Beach, Florida.

He grew up in Grimsby as a bottle digger for many years. He used to dig old Victorian trash pits along the river banks, searching for old bottles, doll heads, clay pipes, and marbles. Some of his findings dated back to the 1500s (clay pipes) and 1600s (bottles).

Later, he decided to move to South Florida, where he continued his findings. On his first day, he located a Spanish Piece of Eight. A few months later, he dug up a 1715 Spanish Fleet Gold and Emerald Ring.

Drayton's Spanish treasure findings attracted Hollywood producers, leading him to appear several times on TV shows before eventually joining the cast of the top-rated treasure-hunting show, The Curse of Oak Island, in the US.

Gary joined the show as the resident metal-detecting expert and appeared in seasons 2 and 4. However, he did not become a permanent team member until around season 5.

He also appeared in the spin-off series The Curse of Civil War Gold. Drayton's most unforgettable find is the splendid 300-year-old Emerald Treasure Ring worth $500,000.
