Hank Goldberg, who worked for WTVJ for about ten years in the 1980s and early 1990s as a sports anchor before working for ESPN for decades as a reporter and analyst, passed away on Monday.

In recent years, Goldberg had therapy for chronic renal disease.

Goldberg formerly served as the host of an all-sports afternoon drive show on Miami's 560 WQAM radio, which ran from 4 to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Working on the WQAM programming schedule at various periods, he was arguably most known for anchoring a show on weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. with veteran Miami radio host Neil Rogers serving as a lead-in.

After Howard Stern departed terrestrial radio and was no longer on WQAM, Goldberg briefly took over as the morning-drive anchor (6 am to 10 am). On December 31, 2007, after his contract expired, Goldberg left WQAM.

On his 82nd birthday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Goldberg passed away at his condominium in the city. His sister told the newspaper that the repercussions of his fight with chronic kidney illness were what led to his death.

AM 560 radio tweeted, "Sad to hear of the passing of Miami radio legend Hank Goldberg. Hank was one of the voices who built 560 WQAM and he will be missed. RIP Hammer."
