Chris Klein Accent In Sweet Magnolias Accent Stands Out

Sweet Magnolias star Chris Klein has a Southern accent with excessive Southern aphorisms in the romantic drama. Chris is not originally from the South.

Klein has come a long way since playing Oz in American Pie, which earned him much recognition.

The actor's primary project in recent years is Sweet Magnolias, embarking on its third season soon.

In that particular role, fans noticed Klein appeared less palatable than he was as American Pie's Oz. Their main complaint is his fake Southern accent. 

One Reddit user said his accent and dialogue are "Soo overdone. It's hysterical." Some even said he has the worst Southern accent on Sweet Magnolias, and the varying accents were very distracting.

People also complain about why the production team should have hired Southern actors for the role. It would be more believable.

Despite all these problematic things, people are obsessed with the drama, and often, viewers binge the whole thing in just a few days.

The series can be described as a sugary rom-com and a soapy mash-up of Gilmore Grils, Chesapeake Shore, and Virgin River.

Based on a series of novels by Sherryl Woods, the show is based in a small town in Southern Carolina and follows three women, best friends since childhood, as they guide each other through romance, family, and career.

Klein was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, to his father, Fred Klein, and mother, Teresa. His mother is a kindergarten teacher, and his father is an engineer.

Growing up in Brookfield, he had his first on-stage experience in a community theatre at the Sheraton Convention Center in Chicago, where he sang This Little Light of Mine.

He lived in the town for 13 years until his family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska.

After moving to Omaha, he attended Millard West High School and performed in his high school's act of West Side Story.

He also played linebacker and cornerback for the football team and was one of the Millard West Swim team members. 

In 2011, the American Pie actor met Laina Rose Thyfault, a travel agent, at a mutual friend's wedding. The pair eventually fell in love and got engaged in December 2014.

They finally decided to tie the knot in Montana on August 9, 2015.

He has two siblings

Chris is not the only child of his beloved parents, Fred and Terese. He is the second child of three siblings and has an older sister and a younger brother.

His older sister, Debbie Klein, was born in 1978 and is 45 years old. His little brother, Timothy, the youngest of the Klein siblings, was born in 1982 -he is 41 years old and is two years younger than his big brother.

The siblings were raised in Brookfield, Illinois, and later in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. They are of Irish, German, and English descent.
