Reporter Jason Derusha bid goodbye to WCCO This Morning on June 23 after 19 years of his service on the TV network. 

Jason joined WCCO as a reporter in 2003 and was able to mark an impression on the public. After working for almost 10 years as a weekend anchor and reporter for the WCCO Good Question program, he started working as a morning anchor. 

The reporter was thinking of resigning from the role of morning anchor for two months and had announced it earlier. After the announcement, many people were heartbroken saying that they were so used to listening to Derusha. 

The journalist plans to engage in special projects and daytime shifts at the WCCO station. He was greeted with best regards and nostalgic memories by his co-anchors and WCCO TV on his final day as a morning anchor. 

Why Is Jason Drusha Leaving WCCO - Where Is He Going?

 The Illinois-native Jason announced that he wants to spend more time with his family after spending more than 11 years on the anchor desk.

Derusha was seen anchoring WCCO This Morning show during the weekdays from 4:30 am to 7 am. He is also a co-anchor of WCCO Mid Morning from 9 am to 10 am.

Further, he covers the reports for the weekly segment, DeRusha Eats. Following his hectic schedule, he wants to be more organized and routined now.

He will still be seen in WCCO-AM 830 studio hosting his new radio show that will take over the radio from 3 to 6 pm. The program will start on June 27 and will be aired on weekdays. 

According to Bring Me The News, Jason reported, "I can't wait to bring my love for Minnesota and western Wisconsin, as well as my two decades of curiosity about our neighbors and our news to 830 WCCO."

After Jason left his anchor duties, a big change in the schedule had to be made by the WCCO CBS News Minnesota to distribute the time slots equally to all the programs. All the staff gathered to wish him for his future endeavors and for spending more than 27000 mornings on the morning anchor desk.

The 11-times Regional Emmy Awards-winning anchor will take on a new job as an afternoon podcast host on WCCO Radio.

There were rumors everywhere on Twitter that Jason is leaving WCCO to open a new restaurant or to start his own new business but it was clarified by the reporter himself that they were false. He will still be seen in new projects by the WCCO radio.

The reporter has been recognized as a James Beard Award finalist for the Outstanding TV segment for his program DeRusha Eats. 

His annual salary ranges from $72500 to $144600 from anchoring and reporting. The journalist has collected a net with of more than $1 million as of 2022. 

Derusha wants to take on new roles in life and balance his professional and family life too. So after nearly 20 years of his service, he gives up the microphone for the morning show.
