It has always been one of the most well-known video games and has been transformed into a TV version. The post-apocalyptic American wasteland video game adaptation is undoubtedly exciting for fans.

With a cast beloved by viewers, the program is ready to present a heartbreaking tale from a fresh angle.

In 2023, The Last of Us made its debut on January 15. On the first day, 4.7 million people watched the series debut on linear channels and HBO Max, which is the second-highest number for HBO since 2010.

It is a post-apocalyptic drama television series developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO and is based on the controversial 2013 video game created by Naughty Dog. The Last of Us' central conceit takes place around 20 years after the fall of contemporary society.

The plot follows Lee Chang, the Crown Prince of Joseon, who attempts to explore the mystery disease suddenly afflicting the King, only to find himself caught in the thick of a terrible pandemic devouring the Kingdom of Joseon. He must prevent his political rivals from assuming the throne while attempting to preserve the Kingdom from the epidemic.

After receiving favorable reviews, the show was given a second season renewal, which debuted on March 13, 2020. On July 23, 2021, a unique, full-length episode of the show called Ashin of the North was shown, putting the spotlight on the supporting role of Jun Ji-Hyun.

2. Pushing Daisies

Bryan Fuller's American comedy-drama television program Pushing Daisies ran on ABC from October 3, 2007, until June 13, 2009, which is not as severe as The Last Of Us but takes a fun spin to fight evil.

The show's central character is Ned, a pie maker who can touch someone and make them come to life. To maintain balance, if something is revived for longer than a minute, similar life values nearby decrease.

The character in the show, Ned is a pie maker with the capacity to, under certain circumstances, bring the demised people back to life.

He revives his mother as a youngster after she passes away from an aneurysm. As a result, Charlotte "Chuck" Charles, his neighbor and boyhood sweetheart, loses his father.

When Ned's mother bids him a fantastic night that evening, she passes away permanently. Vivian and Lily, Chuck's agoraphobic aunts, move in to take care of her when Ned is sent by his father to a boarding school, dividing the kids.

According to the epilogue, Olive has fallen in love with Ned's friend and opened The Intrepid Cow, a restaurant serving only macaroni and cheese. Emerson's daughter also returns to him, Chuck can inform her mother, Lily, and aunt Vivian that she is alive, and Chuck can contact Emerson's daughter.

3. The Returned

A mystery based series featuring hints of the zombie subgenre is called The Returned. The drama is centered on a tiny village where residents' lives are drastically altered when their departed loved ones start to reappear after a long absence.

As they look for a reason, the community strives to make sense of the collision of their old and new lives.

A&E bought ten episodes for the program's debut season in April 2014. Following A&E's screening of the program, it was revealed on March 5, 2015, that Netflix had acquired the global rights to the program and will stream it abroad each week.

Despite being adored by people, The Returned was not well received by reviewers and only lasted one year on A&E. The reason for its early end is still a mystery, given that it had such a strong cast and a Lost-esque plot.

Critics have given mainly The Returned favorable reviews. Based on reviews from 33 reviewers, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 67% approval rating with an overall rating average of 7.4/10.

Aside from the traditional jumpscares and heart-pumping tunes we all enjoy in zombie flicks, this film also realistically reimagines what it will be like to experience a zombie apocalypse in a digitally dependent world.

Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye joined the cast on July 11, 2019, and Lee Hyun-wook did On September 27, 2019; the script was read through, and the show was made with all of them being a part of it.

You may assume that Hulu's Freakish is more of the latter because we follow the survival path of children in detention. Still, it demonstrates how tenacious youngsters can be when their lives are in danger.

When a chemical plant nearby suddenly bursts while these teenagers are in detention, the neighboring inhabitants and other kids who are affected morph into deformed, zombie-like monsters.

7. Z Nation

Then there is Z Nation on SyFy, a program that tackles the zombie subgenre without trying to take itself too seriously.

The ZN1 zombie virus has decimated the world of Z Nation. Those that avoided turning into zombies are doing their best to survive the zombie apocalypse. Alvin Murphy, an ex-prisoner whose blood might hold the key to a zombie virus vaccine, exists even though the situation for the survivors is incredibly dire.

Thus, throughout the five seasons of the program, we follow a group of individuals as they battle zombie hordes and other post-apocalyptic threats.

The series' story centers on his journeys through the post-apocalyptic wasteland with a small band of survivors under the guidance of Simon "Citizen Z" Cruller, who monitors the globe from his numerous computers. He will be employed by the organization to combat the zombie apocalypse.

The team is tasked with getting Murphy from New York to California, where there is still an active Centers for Disease Control research center. But Murphy has a dangerous secret about his illness that puts them all in danger.

The setting for this program is a post-apocalyptic Glendale, California, where all adults over 18 have been transformed into ghoulies. These blood-hungry zombie-like creatures wander the streets, repeating their last thoughts before the catastrophe begins.

Josh Wheeler, the 17-year-old protagonist of the book, and his motley crew of friends, including Angelica, a young girl Josh babysat before the bombs went off, and Wesley, a former bully turned to want to be samurai from high school who searched the wasteland-like world for their girlfriend Sam.

You should watch Daybreak to see the zombie apocalypse with a more teen comedic twist.

The science fiction horror program Helix on Syfy ran for two seasons with thirteen episodes each.

To examine a viral outbreak, two scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Drs. Alan Farragut and Sarah Jordan travel to a bio research facility in the Arctic. The expedition is chronicled in the television series.

Once there, they learn that the epidemic is more complicated than they were led to believe and that it conceals sinister truths that could endanger all humanity.

Either the virus will kill you or turn you into a dangerous, violent zombie; at least the latter condition appears to be treatable.

Behind the initial shock factor and the throbbing, psychedelic-high sensations of its images is a dark and incredibly satisfying zombie tale of a woman who just sought vengeance on the man who stole her aspirations of being a film director.

Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion were responsible for the limited series' conception, writing, and executive production. Arkasha Stevenson directed the first episode. The limited series' production firms are Eat the Cat and Universal Content Productions.

The film's summary goes like when Lisa N. Nova arrives in Los Angeles determined to make her directorial debut. A dream endeavor, however, turns into a nightmare when she puts her trust in the wrong person and is assassinated. 

This nightmare includes zombies, hit men, otherworldly cats, and a shadowy tattoo artist who likes to curse people. To survive, Lisa will also need to uncover some mysteries from her past.
