The 64-year-old victim of the incident, Katherine Goldstein, lived in Highland Park proper.

Little Aiden McCarthy stayed amid the remains, sobbing and confused, after the shooter had finished his havoc and the screams had silenced.

The 2-year-old was discovered by neighbors in the tight-knit Highland Park neighborhood in the chaos that followed the mass shooting on Monday at the town's annual Fourth of July parade.

When a shooter perched on the roof of a nearby business shot and killed more than three dozen people, seven of whom were adults, and injured dozens more.

In addition to the McCarthys, five other people also perished, according to the police, including Stephen Straus, 88, of Highland Park, Katherine Goldstein, 64, of Morelos, Mexico, and Nicolás Toledo-Zaragoza, 78, of Morelos.

Unknown victim number seven passed away in a Cook County hospital. Irina Colon, one of the ladies who assisted in rescuing Aiden, stated in a GoFundMe campaign on Tuesday.

At the time of the occurrence, Katherine Goldstein was 64 years old. His family's details have not yet been made public, though.

When Nina Williams Mbengue, 63, learned about the incident, she began looking for the identities of the victims.

Williams Mbengue, a native New Yorker who still vividly remembers the 9/11 attacks, frequently finds herself fixated on victims of large-scale violence. She is Katherine Goldstein's pal.

She couldn't recall if Katherine "Katie" Goldstein, a longtime acquaintance, still lived in Highland Park proper or if she had relocated with her husband to a location closer to Wisconsin.

She texted her buddy after not hearing back from Goldstein or seeing any recent updates on her social media accounts. Goldstein would be identified as one of the July 4 shooting victims hours later.

When Williams Mbengue learned of Goldstein's passing during a chat with The Post, she sobbed and lost her voice.

At Williams Mbengue's first work at Cunard Line in New York City, the two had first crossed paths decades before. She and Goldstein were colleagues in the tourism industry who grew close as friends while touring the city.

A shooter opened fire at a July Fourth parade in Highland Park, Illinois, killing seven people and injuring scores more. It was a day of grief and horror.

Currently, the parents of a 2-year-old child are among the members of a community in America who are mourning the death of relatives and friends.

The Lake County Coroner's Office recognized Irina and Kevin McCarthy, who were 35 and 37 years old, on Tuesday. After the violence, their kid, Aiden, was discovered alive and transferred to safety, according to family, who spoke to CNN.

The four other deaths were named as Katherine Goldstein, 64, of Highland Park, Jacquelyn Sundheim, 63, of Highland Park, Stephen Straus, 88, of Highland Park, and Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza, 78, of Morelos, Mexico.

According to the Coroner's Office, a seventh victim passed away in a hospital outside of Lake County.
