Jake Wightman was born in Nottingham, England, to parents Geoff Wightman and Susan Tooby, both athletes back in their days.

The 28-year-old athlete’s father, Geoff, ran at the 1990 Commonwealth Games marathon and was a trainer who also trained his son. He is also a long-time media commentator who commented on his son’s race during his last win.

Wightman’s mom is also a runner representing Great Britain and her sister, Angela Tooby, at the Olympic Games in 1988. His parents and his aunt were well-known athletes and made a massive impact on young Jake, encouraging him to work twice as hard.

Jake’s mother, Susan, and his aunt, who were both great athletes, were twins, and much to her surprise, she gave birth to a set of twins, Jake and Sam Wightman.

However, unlike his athlete brother, Sam is an actor who studied Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick and further studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Jake’s brother is a marketing manager at Arcola Theater in London, and his mom dreams of seeing her son on a stage soon now that her other son has made them proud with gold.
