Julius Jones is still being held in prison. He was spared the death punishment thanks to Kim's intervention only hours before he was killed by lethal injection on Nov. 18, 2021.

According to CNN, Julius was given clemency by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, who commuted his death sentence to life in prison without the chance of release. Julius is currently incarcerated in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Julius was convicted of a 1999 murder in the Oklahoma City area when he was 19 years old. The once-promising Black athlete has stated that he did not commit the crime — and has maintained this attitude for the past 21 years.

His counsel claimed that the case was tainted by racial bias and that information that could have exonerated him was ignored or never offered to the jury. Furthermore, family members testified that he was at home the night of the murder and that his look did not match the suspects.
